Evolution Robotics Named Winner of Pasadena Entretec/Clinical Micro Sensors, Inc. Entrepreneurship Award
Idealab! Company Honored for Innovation and Business Achievements
PASADENA, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 05/13/2004 -- Pasadena Entretec (www.pasadenaentretec.com), a leading business development and networking organization helping high tech companies grow along the 134/210 corridor, named Evolution Robotics, (www.evolution.com), the winner of its first annual Entrepreneurship Award. Offered in partnership with Clinical Micro Sensors, Inc., a Motorola company, the award celebrates the entrepreneurial vigor and business achievements of technology companies in the region. Evolution Robotics, developer of state-of-the-art robotics solutions, was honored at an awards dinner on May 11, on the Caltech campus, where Dr. David Baltimore, president of Caltech, gave a keynote address on "Making Biotech Happen."
The purpose of the Entrepreneurship Award is to honor growing, leading edge companies symbolizing the best in entrepreneurial spirit and skills in the region. It also acknowledges the growing importance of the high tech industry in the 134/210 corridor and its contribution to the economic wealth of the Los Angeles basin.
"Entretec is thrilled with the number and caliber of participants who applied for our inaugural entrepreneurship award," said Stephanie Yanchinski, executive director of Entretec. "It was very difficult to make this selection. We are proud that this award is highlighting a number of significant technology companies that are contributing to the economy in our region and Los Angeles as a whole."
Evolution Robotics received the award for showing clear evidence of product acceptance in the marketplace, and in part for the company's potential for significant increases in revenue and profitability. They have achieved significant milestones and their management is well-positioned to realize the company's future promise.
"From the Industrial Revolution two centuries ago, until now, machines have implemented what man commanded them to do," said Alec Hudnut, president of Evolution Robotics. "Machines built products, calculated complex equations, and helped us travel around our world. We have an opportunity over the next several centuries, to allow machines to emerge as partners, as forward-thinking, contemplative creatures that take actions on their own to support humans. Evolution Robotics provides the robotic components and software to enable this evolution of the machine."
"Despite the tech stock market collapse of the past several years, there has been tremendous growth and innovation by a strong group of local, young companies," added Louise Wannier, chairman of the Entrepreneurship Award committee. "Entretec, itself, is a unique organization that offers not only an environment for entrepreneurs to meet and network, but also specific business development and maturation resources for companies to grow beyond the seed stage to strong forces in the market. Entretec sponsors the cross-pollination of ideas and supportive development among the technology companies and resource providers in this region."
