IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Evolution Robotics™ to Exhibit as Robodex 2003
Company will Demonstrate Its Breakthrough Technologies in Robotics Vision, Navigation, Interaction and Architecture
Tokyo, Japan – March 24, 2003 – Evolution Robotics™ Inc., a leading provider of comprehensive, state-of-the-art robotics solutions, today announced that the company will exhibit at ROBODEX 2003, which will take place at Pacifico Yokohama from Thursday, April 3 to Sunday, April 6, 2003. (Press day will be held on April 2.)
Evolution Robotics will be demonstrating its software solutions including the Evolution Robotics Software Platform (ERSP™ 2.0), Visual Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (vSLAM™), and Vision modules. These technologies provide OEMs with the foundation, key-subsystems and core functionality, such as robust vision and autonomy, to develop consumer and industrial robots, and robotics applications, easily and at lower cost.
“We are very excited about coming to Japan and exhibiting at Robodex 2003,” said Robert Callahan, Director of Sales, for Evolution Robotics, Inc. “Japan is arguably the leader in many areas of robotics development and we look forward to working with more companies in Japan and Asia.” Evolution Robotics Inc. announced in January that one of its first customers to license the ERSP is Bandai Co., Ltd of Japan (Tokyo Stock Exchange: 7967.T), the third largest toy company in the world. Bandai will use the software technology to accelerate the development of a new personal robot geared for families in Japan and other parts of Asia.
ERSP 2.0 provides low-level control systems so OEMs can focus on custom application and product development. An SDK for ERSP 2.0 is available on Windows and Linux. Evolution Robotics’ vSLAM, available in a Navigation SDK later this spring, is a true breakthrough enabling manufacturers to include powerful mapping and localization functionality into their products at a fraction of the cost of current solutions. Evolution Robotics’ Vision solution, considered the world’s most robust, can recognize up to 10,000 objects in real-time, in real world environments. Vision is available as part of the ERSP 2.0 SDK.
"We are ushering in a new era for the robotics industry by introducing the ultimate standard robot platform. Using the ERSP, manufacturers can build robotics products and applications faster and with much less up-front expense,” said Bernard Louvat, CEO of Evolution Robotics, Inc. “Japan is ahead in the design and development of robotics and we are very excited to show our robotics solutions to the Japanese market for the first time.”
