Firmware, mechanical, electrical engineers - children in adult bodies |
| What product do you own? |
Several ER1s, extra power module, many extra XBeams, gripper arm and IR
sensors on order. |
| What have you done with your ER1 so far? |
"Our robot is now launching rockets autonomously after aiming at it's target
(another ER1) using the vision software. (More proof that MTV's "Jackass"
really does affect the public's behavior...) We've also dressed up one our
robots as a homeless individual. We hope to send it out on the street to beg
for money. With a little luck, we could fund our future robotics-related
activities by panhandling!" |
| Favorite aspect of the ER1? |
"In general it's a pretty powerful platform, and in the hands of mad geniuses
like us, much entertainment/mischief can be acheived. We especially like the
expandability of the whole system, both hardware and software. It allows us to
be much more creative than we can with our Aibos and Roombas, for example." |
| Favorite robot of legend? |
Goose: HAL of "2001: A Space Odyssey;"
Midwest: Data of "Star Trek;"
Mr. Caltech: Bender of "Futurama" |
| "Next big project for the ER1? |
A robot that can play minature golf. We've got it constructed, but haven't
written the software yet." |
